With a background as a Detective for over 10 years with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Josh retired in 2024 and established Blue Line Solutions LLC to bring his expertise and commitment to the private sector, continuing his service to the community.

Military Background

A proud United States Marine Corps Infantry veteran, Josh served his country with honor including deployments for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 1999 to 2003. His military experience laid a strong foundation for his career in law enforcement.

Law Enforcement Background

In 2004, Josh began his law enforcement career with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (MD) as a Deputy Sheriff. Over the years, he served as a Patrol Deputy and later as a Street Crimes Detective, gaining extensive experience in locating wanted fugitives and conducting complex investigations. During this time, he received specialized executive protection training from the United States Secret Service (USSS).

From 2015 to 2024, Josh served as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Section, where he investigated a wide range of serious offenses, including homicides, assaults, missing persons, sex offenses, robberies, burglaries, fraud, sex trafficking, and fugitive cases. His responsibilities required advanced training in covert surveillance operations, as well as interview and interrogation techniques.

Josh was the first Frederick County Deputy Sheriff to be deputized by both the U.S. Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, serving on the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force (C8). Throughout his two-decade career, he built an impeccable reputation as a trusted, dedicated, and highly effective criminal investigator.

Sean McCarty - Retired Maryland State Police

Sean is a seasoned investigator with over two decades of real-world experience across law enforcement, private security, and federal contracting. His career began with the Maryland State Police in 2004, where he distinguished himself in criminal and narcotics investigations, working cases throughout the Western Region of Maryland. During his tenure, Sean led and supported investigations involving homicides, violent assaults, sex offenses, fraud, and firearms violations.

In addition to casework, Sean has considerable experience in covert surveillance, wiretap operations, gang interdiction, search warrant execution, and fugitive apprehension. He also contributed to community outreach and public safety initiatives, adding a human dimension to his operational roles.

Since retiring from law enforcement in 2013, Sean has transitioned his expertise into the private sector, consulting on physical and operational security, threat assessments, and executive protection. He currently supports a Department of Homeland Security contract and continues to offer freelance services in corporate security and executive protection.
